There's an axolotl that can grow back a lost leg. There's a saola — a real animal, first documented by scientists in 1992 — that almost no one alive has ever seen in the wild. A few of the facts waiting in this pack — the ones kids tend to repeat to anyone who'll listen:
- Tarsier — Its eyes are so enormous they're actually heavier than its brain.
- Saola — Scientists first documented it in 1992. Fewer than a hundred are thought to exist. Virtually no one alive has ever seen one in the wild.
- Sea otter — When it wants a snack, it balances a rock on its belly and taps a clam against it until it pops open.
- Cassowary — It can grow as tall as a grown-up. It can't fly, but it can outrun most people.
- Wombat — It produces cube-shaped droppings. No other animal in the world does this.
- Axolotl — It can regrow a leg, a tail, or even part of its heart. A perfect replacement, not a scar.
- Spectacled bear — The pale rings around its eyes are like a fingerprint. No two bears have the same pattern.
- Pangolin — Its tongue is so long it has to be stored deep inside its body, all the way down near its stomach.
