Wild Atlas July Updates: Four Releases, One Post

TL;DR

Wild Atlas shipped four updates in July — v1.0.2 through v1.0.4. The big ones: redeem App Store offer codes right inside the app, packs start playing the moment you buy them, and the whole app got a lot more alive with new animations. Free update for everyone.

July was a busy month for Wild Atlas. Four updates shipped in four weeks, and together they add up to a meaningfully different experience — particularly for kids who are just arriving and parents who are handing the app over.

Here's everything that changed, starting with what's newest.

Redeem an App Store code — right inside the app

Parents who receive a gift code or offer code for Wild Atlas can now redeem it without leaving the app. There's a new Redeem a Code option in the Shop, behind the parental gate. Tap it, enter the code, and the pack unlocks.

This is the path for gifting a pack — if you've been sent a code or received one with a purchase, this is where it goes.

Pack audio arrives the moment you unlock

Previously, when you bought a pack or redeemed a code, the narration audio didn't start downloading until you reopened the app. That's fixed. Audio now arrives immediately after purchase, redeem, or Family Sharing — no restart needed.

The shop also now shows a download progress indicator while audio is arriving, so you know exactly where things stand.

New packs float to the top

When a new pack arrives in Wild Atlas, it now appears first — in the Shop and on the home screen. Kids who open the app after an update will see the newest animals without having to scroll.

Setting up an explorer is now step by step

The first-time setup flow — where a child picks their explorer name and avatar — is now a proper step-by-step sequence: name first, then avatar picker. It's a small change that makes a real difference for younger kids, who can focus on one thing at a time rather than taking in a busier screen all at once.

Legends of the Wild polish

Legends of the Wild launched on July 22 as Wild Atlas's first premium animal pack — 18 rare species, $3.99. This update adds a detail that was missing at launch: the shop preview now narrates in all five non-English languages, so families browsing in German, Spanish, French, Chinese, or British English hear it in their language before they buy.

If you haven't updated since early July

The updates above are in v1.0.4, which came out today. But if you haven't updated since before July 9, there's more — two earlier updates that shipped quietly.

v1.0.3 — July 16

  • Animals bounce when tapped and wiggle gently while idle. Buttons invite the next tap across all games and quizzes. The whole app got more alive.
  • Animal pages open with a gentle zoom-in entrance. Each animal arrives with a little moment of its own.
  • Unlocking a new pack now gets a proper celebration — the pack introduces itself out loud.
  • Count Safari: new reset button, and the number itself is now tappable.

v1.0.2 — July 9

  • Shop prices come live from the App Store — always in your currency and region, never out of date.
  • All paths that leave the app now sit behind the parental gate — the update banner, the settings link to the App Store. A grown-up is in the loop whenever Wild Atlas hands off to somewhere else.
  • Packs show a download progress badge while new audio is arriving.
